A 21-year-old nurse, from Dublin, Ireland, is forced to write her will as she fears she could die of coronavirus.
Kate O’Flaherty revealed she has written a will and told her boyfriend where she has kept it in case she dies of coronavirus while treating patients.
In a heartbreaking confession, she told people, who are complaining about being in isolation, to put themselves in the shoes of healthcare workers who are working round-the-clock to save people from coronavirus.
She said: “If you’re finding it hard to put yourself in the shoes of healthcare workers right now. I’ll try my best to paint you a picture – I wrote my will the other day.”
“I stashed it away in my room and told my boyfriend where it is in case anything happens to me on the frontline. I am 21.”
She described the coronavirus pandemic as ‘terrifying’ and said they don’t want people to call them ‘heroes’.
Kate said they just want people to fight for them so they get the treatment and the pay that they deserve.
She said: “This time last year, nurses were on strike to no avail. This year, we are being deemed heroes.”
Nurses and carers are putting their lives at risk to save others during this pandemic but what they get in return is not enough.
She said nurses are expected to sacrifice their lives for the greater good and for close to minimum wage.
Kate urged everyone to fight for the nurses and to support them.
She said: “We want you to fight with us, to ensure that nurses, student nurses, carers and anyone else in a nursing profession get the treatment and the pay that they deserve.”
Kate’s post has now gone viral on the Internet and people totally agreed that nurses are doing an amazing job during coronavirus crisis and they deserve everything they want.
