A 28-year-old nurse filmed a heartbreaking message only hours before he passed away.
Sergio Humberto Padilla Hernandez from Mexico filmed a message for his loved ones moments before he was put on a ventilator as he was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Sadly, he died the next day.
In the heartbreaking video, the Mexican nurse says: “I want that, no matter what happens, and the prognosis that God has reserved for me, you always remember me for who I was and who I am.
“Because I will come back, this is not a goodbye. I am sure I will come back after a few days.”
Hernandez adds: “I will see you again, my friends, my family. I love you.”
The footage was filmed on November 5, only one day before he passed away, local newspaper Milenio reported.
Hernandez worked as a member of a four-person nurse team at a hospital.
According to Milenio, state hospitals have been so overrun with patients with coronavirus that they could no longer admit other patients.
Mexico has more than 960,000 cases of coronavirus and over 95,000 fatalities, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
One person commented: “Heartbreaking. I thought most people know now not to go on a ventilator. If you can force your lungs to work however painful then do it. It will be worth it.”
Another wrote: “This is beyond sad!! I’m sure the cumulative affects, of working with COVID patients, must have made him susceptible!”
A third added: “Very sweet message to his loved ones, it’s a gift to be able to say ‘goodbye and I love you’ but brave to face the possibility too. What a lovely young man. Rest in love and peace. Thoughts and prayers to family too. God bless.”
