A non-profit organization is feeding the entire community for free and is making a huge difference in society.
The non-profit organization – Meals By Grace in partnership with local schools and social workers help students and families who are in need of food for their homes.
Meals By Grace offers children food who come to school hungry and also provide food for their families during the week, weekends, and school breaks.
Volunteers prepare food every Sunday of the year and then distribute the food to the entire community.
More than 20,000 volunteers are helping the non-profit organization prepare food for the children and families who are in need.
The mission of the organization is to ‘provide hungry children and their families with meals to end their food insecurity, utilizing the community as a holistic resource to nurture under-resourced families to self-sufficiency’, according to its Facebook page.
The non-profit organization doesn’t only provide food to needy families, they also help them in getting jobs as they provide guided sessions in life and job skills.
Executive Director Suellen Daniels said: “Volunteers come, fall in love, and they come back on a regular basis.”
The volunteers meet every Sunday and the second Saturday of the month to prepare a hot meal, assemble other food items and then deliver the food to the children and families on their program.
The organization has been awarded the 2012 Forsyth County People in Action Award, 2013 CASA Light of Hope Award Recipient, and 2014 Georgia Humanitarian Award from GAPI, 2019 Nonprofit of the Year.
