Nigerian Boy Who Lives In A Shelter In the US Is On His Way of Becoming A Chess Champion


This little boy who along with his family fled from their home in Nigeria and has been living in a shelter, and has since won several chess competitions and is rapidly growing a name for himself.

Tanitoluwa Adewumi, with love called Tani by his friends and family, is an 8 years young child who is becoming a champion of chess.

The boy has fled from Nigeria along with his family in 2017 leaving their home. The family is now living in a shelter in New York City.

As soon as the family arrived in the city, they got Tani into an elementary school after they got to know about the chess club. His mother knew that Tani is great at chess and can do a lot better with a little help.

No, it was not easy for the child. After school, he used and still gets back to the shelter and practice for hours and hours on the street or in the shelter. Although the family has filed an application for asylum it is pends.

Tani’s father who is working as an Uber driver and as an estate agent works extremely hard to be able to send his kids to school.

His mother said that they had to leave their country and fly to the USA to save their lives. She said that a terrorist group was attacking Africans.

She said that they were a typical Christian family and their belief in Christianity was very high. This was one of the reasons that the family had become one of the major victims for the group so they had to run away to save themselves.
