A protester threw milkshake on Nigel Farage in Newcastle ahead of the upcoming European elections.
32-year-old Paul Crowther from Throckley, Newcastle threw milkshake on the Brexit Party leader during a campaign walkabout in Newcastle.
He was taken away by a Police Community Support Officer and was handcuffed after the incident.
Mr. Crowther said it was a £5.25 Five Guys banana and salted caramel milkshake. He said: “I didn’t know he was in town, I thought this is my only chance.”
“It’s a right of protest against people like him.”
He also said that he did not regret what he did as “the bile and the racism he spouts out in this country is far more damaging than a bit of milkshake to his front.”
Mr. Farage was heard shouting at his security staff after the incident. He reportedly said: “how did you not stop that?”
After the incident, Mr. Farage tweeted: “Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible.”

Other European election candidates including Ukip’s Carl Benjamin and former Defence League leader Tommy Robinson were also doused in milkshakes.
After such incidents, McDonald’s had stopped selling ice creams and milkshakes while Nigel Farage was holding a rally in Edinburgh but Burger King refused to do so.
