Winter is bleak and cold but, still, it’s not that bad, especially when it comes to the beautiful scenery accompanied by it.

Owing to the extreme cold, some parts of the world-renowned Niagara Falls have frozen – and it’s the most amazing thing you’ll ever see.

A layer of ice has formed over the collection of waterfalls, located on the US-Canada border.

Tourists from the two countries, as well as from around the world, are pouring in to view the majestic waterfalls in all its glory, and their pictures on social media say it all.

Some of the photos shared on Instagram by the visitors give the illusion that all parts of the falls are frozen solid.

One person even went as far as to claim that the temperature there was around -35 degrees Celsius (-31 Fahrenheit), the BuzzFeed News reported.

Visitor Emma Grafham said she felt if she were in ‘Elsa’s castle,’ referring to the famous 2013 Disney movie, Frozen.

“There was even this set of stairs that were placed just outside the look-on spot and they had so much ice on them, it looked like Elsa had just cast her arm out and summoned up some stairs like she does in the movie,” Grafham told CNN.

Visitor Inge Groot wrote on Instagram: “The sun came out for only 15 minutes. Just to make this experience even more memorable I guess. I froze my butt off with -25.”

However, the Niagara falls have not completely frozen over as the water in the river is continuously flowing, the Buffalo News reported.

“Something moving as fast as the falls is extremely difficult to freeze,” Stuart M. Evans, assistant professor in the Department of Geography at the University at Buffalo told the outlet.

The people who can’t visit the falls took to social media to recall their memories.

“When I lived up there I used to love going to the Falls in winter. It was at its most beautiful then,” one social media user commented.
