Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly criticised the leader of Italy’s biggest trade union, Maurizio Landini, from the CGIL, for calling her a couresan of Donald Trump.

This incident arose during a televised interview that left her stunned beyond words, slamming the leader for dropping to this low level in public.

 

Landini accused Meloni of doing nothing to help secure peace in Gaza and mentioned how she merely behaved as if she were Trump’s courtesan, instead of a bold leader.

In reply to the very controversial remark, the Italian PM took to her account on social media to condemn the actions and called him out for being sexist and so offensive.

She posted the dictionary definition of courtesan as someone of easy virtue, euphemism, prostitute, to highlight how the term is so derogatory.

She further argued that the political left wing, which for decades lectured about respect for women, had here resorted to calling females a prostitute when lacking proper arguments or strong points to build a decent conversation. Landani later clarified that he never meant to insult her and it was not sexist by any means, adding how he meant to portray her as Trump’s lackey, instead of any kind of gender specific target.
