A 2-year-old child’s arm was ripped off by an escalator at a shopping mall in Russia recently.

As per reports from local media outlets, the child happened to be in the center of the mall in Russia with his mother, who happened to be have briefly lost sight of him for a few moments. But little did she know about the disaster that was waiting to unfold in those few seconds.

She shared more about how he made his way to the escalator, which ended up chewing the right hand and lower arm, right before tearing both of them off.

The mother added how a pharmacist rushed to assist him and told local news that she heard screams, ran over, and saw a boy standing there with his arm torn off.

She did mention how there was not much blood; basically, his arm, up to the elbow, was on the escalator. She shared how the boy was crying, and a man put a tourniquet on his upper arm to stop the bleeding from taking place.

The man shared more about how the mother was screaming. ‘I just stood there and saw a man put a bandage to stop the bleeding. He was standing there without his arm, the horrified witness mentioned.

They waited for an ambulance, and they retrieved the lost arm. The child was conscious this whole time, and he held on until the very end. Anastasia gave the paramedics ice to transport the arm, and the boy was taken to the hospital, but surgeons failed to reattach his limb due to the damage that was incurred.

The boy’s dad shared: “Our son is in intensive care, and we are not allowed to see him yet. But we know that he has been brought out of a medically induced coma,” he explained. More investigations are taking place on this matter.
