A guest died on Tuesday at Disney World near the Contemporary Resort Hotel, located just outside the Florida property’s Magic Kingdom park, Entertainment Weekly mentioned.
After a body was found on the site, a representative for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told media outlets that the deceased’s cause of death was first posted incorrectly on social media.
It was declared to be an apparent suicide. The representative mentioned and also said that contrary to reports regarding the Disney guest, they were not struck by the monorail, so that is incorrect information.
When asked for more details after footage was shared online showing officials setting up a tent on a Contemporary Resort balcony, in addition to the reports that the body was found on the track of the monorail, the rep added, ‘We don’t release additional information in cases of suicide’- they added.
No other details were shared at the time. Sources revealed how a similar incident took place in 2016 when a guest reportedly jumped from one of the resort’s ledges.
Opened in the year 1971, alongside the Disney World property overall, the Contemporary Resort is a unique architectural structure that features an A-frame design that sees the monorail track running directly through the building near the lower ground. On the interior of the upper floors, many resort pathways face inward toward the lobby below, which also entails gift shops and two restaurants, Chef Mickey’s and the Contempo Cafe.
