Kamala Harris’ latest security detail is made up of Los Angeles Police Department officers who have been reassigned to guard the former US Vice President after President Trump withdrew her Secret Service Protection, as per the latest report.
As many as 14 LAPD’s elite Metro Division officers were pulled from working cases and crime suppression efforts to provide security for Harris, as per one local outlet, FOX 11 shared on Wednesday.
The outlet mentioned how an unmarked LAPD SUV with at least two plainclothes officers seated in the driveway outside Harris’ home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of LA, where the failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee had been living with her partner.
Doug Emhoff, since leaving Washington, DC, Trump signed an order last week stripping Harris of her Secret Service squad, effective September 1.
Former vice presidents classically receive six months of protection following their terms, which means Harris would have lost her detail on July 21. But President Joe Biden silently extended Secret Service coverage for his VP for nearly one year, shortly before leaving office on January 20.
