A 14-year-old boy from California was seen walking off a 120-foot cliff in front of his horrified father.
Sources shared how the boy told his dad that he witnessed snowmen and Kermit the Frog while hallucinating from altitude sickness.
Zane Wach is now said to be in a state of medically induced coma from the fall on Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
This left him with severe head trauma and a broken ankle, pelvis, and finger, sources shared.
The frightening events unfolded as the duo made their way down the mountain, but Dad Ryan Wach had no doubts at the start about his son’s ability to handle the hike.
Speaking to media outlets, the dad says he was in better shape than him, adding how his son enjoyed hiking and was an active teenager who took part in activities like distance running, triathlons, and even swimming.
The whole idea was that this would be kind of his introduction to the world of mountaineering.
However, as the dad and son made the journey up to the mountain, Zane started to slowly showcase altitude sickness symptoms.
