Ukrainian forces were seen wiping out dozens of Russian military aircraft as well as nuclear bombers in a massive drone attack on President Putin’s air bases that are present deep inside the nation, sources from Kyiv have confirmed.
The mission carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service used first-person-view drones that hit nearly 41 Russian heavy bombers at four different airfields thousands of miles from Ukraine, a top security expert confirmed on Sunday.
The drones were said to have been smuggled into the nation hidden inside trucks. Bear nuclear bombers, TU-22 Backfire fast attack strike bombers, and A-50 Mainstay command and control jets were among the planes that were destroyed in this strike, as per reports.
Some of those targeted were said to be the mainstay of Russia’s doomsday deterrent for the past seven decades, with swarms of bombers gearing up to take off for America in the event of some kind of nuclear war.
The operation was codenamed Operation Spider’s Web, and it took nearly 18 months of planning. If the details shared so far are true, then it would be a major blow to Russia’s efforts to roll out long-range missile attacks on various cities in Ukraine.
