As the King Richard star revealed in his interview for Netflix’s ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’, he saw his worst fears come to life in the form of hallucinations during his ayahuasca drug trip in South America.

Ayahuasca is a psychedelic plant that alters people’s senses, emotions, and causes hallucinations when consumed.

“I decided that it was something that, you know, I wanted to try,” the 53-year-old actor said in an interview that took place shortly before his Oscars incident during which he slapped presenter Chris Rock in the face.

Recalling the ‘terrifying’ hallucinations that followed after he tried the plant, Smith said:

“All of a sudden, it’s like I start seeing all of my money flying away. And my house is flying away. And my career is gone.

The actor added that a voice in his head keep on telling him: “This is what the f*** it is. This is what the f*** life is.”

Slowly, however, Smith began to collect himself after hearing his daughter, Willow, crying out to him for help.

“Then slowly, I stopped caring about my money, I just wanted to get to Willow. I stopped caring about my house, about my career,” he added.

“I still hear Willow screaming. My money is still flying away, but … I’m totally calm, even though there’s hell going on in my mind. When I came out of it, I realized that anything that happens in my life, I can handle it.

The actor’s spiritual trip allegedly taught him that “99 percent of the s*** you worry about never happens” and that we are usually responsible for generating the pain and misery we suffer from.
