They’re advising holidaymakers to not only pack swimsuits but also pack more than just that. We’re talking about an ample supply of bug spray because things can get really messy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shared a warning for the tropical hot spot and how there’s a sudden spike in dengue fever cases across the Western Pacific.

Dengue is known for being one of the most deadly viruses that is spread through mosquitoes. This is why Fiji’s government is now on red alert.

‘About half of the world’s population is now at a major risk for dengue, with an expected 100 to 400 million infections taking place every year’- the message went on to read.

The WHO also mentioned in another recent statement how nations such as Mexico and Canada, as well as most of the Caribbean and Latin America, would be seeing a rise in those cases.

Travelers need to be aware of what to expect when they head to Fiji in the summer, so they should start packing wisely and exercise precaution against the disease.
