Some residents hailed from Wennington in the eastern part of London are believed to have taken shelter at St. Mary and the St. Peter Church, right as the huge blaze tore through.

Interestingly, everything got burned down but the church remained still and was left undamaged. Many called the sight an absolute wonder of bewilderment and astonishment. Meanwhile, images showed how the building made of stone remained untouched, which is quite in contrast to the burnt grass that can be easily seen in the surrounding.

Sources revealed how it was the very aggressive tactics that were used for firefighting that gave rise to people being able to stay safe inside the church without any damage or harm occurring to them or the building.
