Ukraine’s President Zelensky and US VP JD Vance were seen shaking hands recently at the inauguration ceremony of the new Pope Leo XIV.
This was the first meeting of the pair following their infamous White House clash during the year’s start. This saw President Zelensky leave after a shouting match between him and Trump’s administration.
The duo were seen smiling as they shook hands and appeared so delighted to see one another during the brief exchange.
Zelensky later met with Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the mass, as per a source from the Ukrainian press who confirmed the news to Reuters.
No other details were shared about the meeting, including what was said between the two, but it’s clear that Trump is doing everything to try and achieve peace in the region by uniting Russia and Ukraine before it’s too late.
Marco Rubio was seen clashing with the late Pope Francis in the past. They argued about the Trump administration’s hard-line immigration policies. The new Pope has made it clear that it’s important to achieve world peace as there is zero room for propaganda in today’s day and age.
