Ukrainian President Visits Orphaned Children In The Hospital And Gifts Them iPads


Russian President Volodymyr Zelensky has captured the hearts of people from all around the globe after standing his ground to defend his country following the Russian invasion.

Now, the Ukrainian president dedicated his day to visiting a pair of orphaned children who were left without a home during the Russian bombing of Mariupol.

According to the president’s official site, 12-year-old Kira Obedinska and 10-year-old Ilya Matvienko were kidnapped by Russian troops after they lost their parents to shelling and sustained injuries in the process.

After the children were brought to territory occupied by Russia, they were rescued by Ukrainian forces who took them to Okhmatdyt National Children’s Hospital where they were greeted by their grandparents.

In a heartwarming video, Zelensky can be seen visiting Ilya, whose mother was killed by Russians, at the hospital on his birthday and gifting him an iPad.

As the president wished the young boy a happy birthday, doctors pointed out that the 10-year-old will surely make a full recovery.

“We are most worried about the children. Children are our future. We will fight for every Ukrainian child to return home,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine’s president then visited 12-year-old Kira whose father died in the Russian bombing. Since her mother died before the war began, Kira was left orphaned after the loss of her father.

After gifting an iPad to Kira, Zelensky also thanked the hospital staff for working tirelessly to save Ukrainian lives.

“Thank you for your important daily work, for saving the lives of Ukrainians. You are also on your frontline, like our military,” he expressed.
