A beloved dog is set to be reunited with his family after he went missing during the shelling of his hometown in Ukraine.
Yukki the Siberian Husky went on a run when the bombing of Bucha started while he and his owners were attempting to flee the city.
As Marina, Yukki’s owner and a mother-of-three, revealed, the family was separated from their dog after the pooch was scared off by loud explosions.
While the family put their lives on the line to go and look for Yukki, they couldn’t find him and were eventually forced to call off the search and flee the city.
“When the shelling began our beloved pet dog Yukki got spooked and ran away. We looked for him, but to no avail,” Marina said.
Despite all odds, Yukki was eventually found by a kind Ukrainian serviceman who saw the pooch roaming the streets of embattled Bucha.
Not only did Andriy Smirnov, the soldier who found Yukki, immediately take the dog under his wing but he also posted his pictures on Facebook in hopes of reuniting Yukki with his family.
“There are no owners, we will look for him,” Smirnov vowed.
Miraculously, Smirnov’s post reached Marina and her family who were still hoping they would one day be reunited with Yukki.
“Then a miracle happened. He was found by a soldier called Andriy Smirnov,” Marina recalled.
“We will pray for Andriy every day for saving our dog’s life. He will remain a hero for us for the rest of his life.”
While Yukki and his family will have to wait for some time before a safe reunion can be arranged, Smirnov vowed to look after the pooch until he is reunited with his family.
