Thirty-one construction workers were seen getting rescued when an underground industrial tunnel that they were working inside collapsed in LA on Wednesday night.
The workers were said to be trapped inside that tunnel, nearly 300 to 400 feet below the surface.
This incident arose just before the clock struck 8 pm, when the collapse took center stage as per the LA Fire Department.
A massive 12 to 15 foot mound of dirt was seen getting separated, and that’s when some of the workers from the main group in this 18 foot diameter underground shaft in the Wilmington neighborhood called for him as they got stuck.
At the start, the workers were able to climb over the tall barrier to regroup with others inside the tunnel.
Officials were not too sure about how big the collapse turned out to be and failed to release the real cause of this incident.
The workers were said to be taking turns with shuttle carts back to the only entry/access point in that tunnel. This was five to six miles from the site where the collapse took center stage.
Cranes were used to hoist the workers to the surface at nearly 10 pm. Over 100 first responders were at the scene to meet the freed crew and conduct medical examinations.
