Oscar-winning celeb Emma Thompson has shared that Donald Trump once asked her out on a date on the same day that she divorced her former husband, Kenneth Branagh.
The Harry Potter star shed light on this matter at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where she mentioned to the audience how she was inside her trailer while she was filming Primary Colors when she got the call from Trump.
He introduced himself as Donald Trump, and she honestly thought it was some kind of joke taking place in front of her.
‘How can I help you?’- she asked, and then wondered perhaps he needed directions from someone and was calling for that reason.
‘Then he said that I would love for you to come and stay at one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could have some dinner someday’- he continued, and that really left her stunned.
On that note, she knew that she had to let him down, but she did it ever so gently, and called the gesture sweet, thanked him, and told him that she would be getting back to him on this. Ironically, Trump had just gotten divorced from his former wife, Marla Maples, with whom he shares daughter Tiffany Trump.
