President Trump has caused some serious controversy once again after he made a comment about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that some called out as shameful and disgusting.
.
Trump was speaking at a summit in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh following the announcement of a ceasefire deal that was agreed between Israel and Hamas.
Despite the serious nature of the gathering of the world leaders, Trump opted to take a less serious tone at times, which many dubbed as shocking, as it drew criticism across the board from viewers.
During that event, which was set against a backdrop of very formal speeches and a cease-fire deal signing, Trump singled out the Italian PM Giorgia Meloni with a comment that was sure to guarantee headlines. He prefaced it with self-awareness: ‘I am not allowed to say it because it’s the end of your political career if you say it,’ and then he turned around towards Meloni and added: ‘She is a beautiful young woman!’
If that was not cringy enough, he continued by mentioning how the term beautiful in the US about a woman might lead to the end of your career in politics, but he was more than willing to ‘take his chances, leaving viewers stunned.
He directed his words towards Meloni and asked her ‘You don’t mind being called beautiful, right? Because you are!’ Clearly, it seems like the President was waiting for trouble with this one, as she did give out an awkward and shocked reaction.
