American President Donald Trump’s recent comments in the press are raising concerns, as many feel America’s head of state is to blame for the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
Trump shared that he strongly believed all TV networks that spoke against him and criticized him needed to have their licenses taken away as soon as possible.
The remarks came after pressure from his administration to have Late Night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel suspended after he suggested that the murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk in Utah last week was due to the actions of a Trump supporter.
Kimmel’s suspension arrived after the threat of regulatory action raised serious concerns that the Trump administration was trying to curtail the free speech of its critics, while other talk show hosts commented on this row.
‘This is blatant censorship’- Stephen Colbert mentioned in regards to his rival CBS show. ‘With an autocrat, you cannot give an inch!’
Trump spoke about the issue to reporters while boarding Air Force One on Thursday as he was returning home after a state visit to the United Kingdom.
He also mentioned how he read in some place that the networks were 97% against him and that meant 97% negative, and despite him winning the elections fair and square, he felt it was about time that people got over it.
‘They only give me bad publicity and press. I mean, they’re getting a license and maybe that needs to be taken away!”- he shared.
