Donald Trump has just declared that he would be bringing in troops to control the situation in Los Angeles.
The news comes as America’s most populous city burns amid migrant protests.
The American president also called for the arrest of anyone seen wearing face masks as violent clashes between law enforcement and protesters rocked the city overnight.
Rioters set fire to driverless vehicles, looted stores, drove motorcycles at lines of cops, and produced blockades to grind downtown LA to a complete halt as the chaos in the city stretched into the third day.
In one vicious attack, officers were trapped under the overpass on the 101 Freeway while protesters lobbed fiery missiles and rocks from above.
Elsewhere, riot police rained rubber bullets and tear gas on crowds of demonstrators.
The protests exploded on Friday after a series of deportation raids in predominantly Latino neighborhoods took place.
Trump shared how 300 National Guard troops were deployed, with another 1700 due to arrive on Monday. The American Northern Command shared how 500 Marines were put on standby amid the alarming situation. The state governor of California, Gavin Newsom, and LA Mayor Karen Bass slammed Trump for what they felt was a heavy-handed response. They continued to insist that protesters were mostly at peace, despite images and videos showing total anarchy unfolding on the streets.
