The 42-year-old royal appeared horseback at this year’s Trooping the Color, which is the yearly celebration that honors his dad, King Charles, who will turn 77 this year in November.

The grand occasion had William as one of the only three family members riding horseback during the London parade.

He was joined by Princess Anne and his uncle, Prince Edward, who is also the Duke of Edinburgh.

While King Charles also chose to ride horseback at last year’s event, this year was different as he took a more backseat approach inside his carriage that was horse-drawn alongside the Queen.

Charles also rode in a coach last year, just months after he was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment.

Queen Elizabeth switched from participating in this event on horseback to riding a carriage in 1987 at the age of 60.
