A family was seen paying an emotional tribute to Chloe Childress, who was one of the camp counselors who lost her life in the tragic Texas floods.
Chloe is remembered for the massive light she lit in people’s lives before her death, with many recalling how excited she was to be a mentor for the young girl campers.
Texas witnessed the most serious floods sweeping through the state on July 4, leading to the death of more than 150 people and dozens still missing.
Chloe happened to be among 27 other campers and counselors located at Camp Mystic who had their lives taken in the tragedy.
Chloe had only recently graduated from the Kinkaid School in Houston and was preparing to begin her first semester at the University of Texas this fall.
She returned to the Camp, which is a place that she deeply cherished, to spend her summer mentoring young girls as a counselor.
In the heartfelt statement that was shared online, her family says she was someone filled with contagious joy, unending grace, and abiding faith.
She loved to return to the camp as a counselor and was looking forward to dedicating her entire summer to loving and mentoring young girls at Camp Mystic, the statement read. The family shared how they are absolutely shocked and heartbroken to learn of her death in the tragic flooding.
