Former Olympic decathlete Caitlyn Jenner has left the world stunned after she recently declared trans swimmer Lia Thomas as not the rightful winner for the women’s NCAA Championships.
Instead, Jenner went ahead and opted to name the second place winner Emma Weyant as the true winner of the competition as she believed that was fair.
The news comes amid constant controversy across the board as many feel it is unfair for a trans athlete to participate in women’s championships in the country.
Thomas has reportedly been competing in this particular championship for the past three years but at that time, the participation was as a male collegiate swimmer from the University of Pennsylvania.
Now, however, after starting off a new round of hormone therapy, many have opposed the inclusion of a trans swimmer.
“This is just common sense and it’s wrong to include a trans in the female’s competition”- Caitlyn Jenner could be seen mentioning.
A recent Tweet was announced by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis where he also refused to acknowledge the participation and winner of the women’s championship in regards to Thomas’ victory. Moreover, he also agreed with Jenner with how the true or real winner was in fact Emma from the University of Virginia.
During the early days of this month, Caitlyn Jenner spoke about how it was certainly not fair to include a trans with biological females as that was simply ridiculing the sport because Thomas was biologically a male and not a female.
Jenner, who was previously named Bruce, came out as a trans in the year 2015. In the year 1976, Bruce had set up a world record for the men’s decathlon during the Olympic Games.
Despite coming second, Weyant received great applause from the crowd when she came forward and accepted her medal for the second position, almost as if she was the true winner in many people’s books.
