A high school track star was seen suffering from a serious concussion and a possible skull fracture after her competitor smashed her in the back of her head with a relay baton during the race.
Brookville High School junior Kaelen Tucker was the second leg runner for the massive 4×200 meter relay at the VHSL Class 3 State Indoor Championships at Liberty University on Friday.
Tucker earned a silver medal in the girl’s 55 meter long dash during the meet. She was attempting to cut into lane one during the race for the second place win as she was rounding turn four.
Instead of blocking her entry, Tucker’s rival chose to slow down and wind up her arm back and then smacked a baton across the runner’s head as per a shocking video.
The disturbing footage was unlike anything many had seen, leaving the school’s officials and those in the audience stunned.
When they got towards the curve, she kept bumping her in the arm and when they reached off the curve, they finally managed to pass her, and that was when she slammed her hard with a baton.
A very audible and loud gasp could be heard from the crowd inside the Va complex as Tucker detoured off that track. She grabbed her hand and fell down to the ground. Her mom and trainers rushed to be by her side during this time.
