A small charter plane carrying 11 people on board has crashed and killed all passengers and crew on board.
The tragedy took place today in Kenya’s Kwale region, where all 11 people were said to have died. The plane was operated by Mombasa Air Safari and was said to be en route from Diani on the Indian Ocean coast to the Maasai Mara National Reserv,e which is a popular safari destination.
The victims included eight tourists from Hungary, two from Germany, and a pilot from Kenya. The plane crashed into a forested hilly region, approximately 40 km from the Diani airstrip.
As per authorities, heavy rain and poor visibility were present during the time of the crash, and the pilot failed to make radio contact after departure with the control tower who tried to reach the plane for nearly 30 minutes.
The plane’s wreckage was found burned down to the ground with no survivors. An investigation was launched by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authoritiy to figure out the cause of the crash with some stating that possible weather conditions or communication or navigational issues might be to blame.
