Saving Private Ryan star Tom Sizemore has ‘no further hope’ of recovering after he suffered a brain aneurysm that left him in critical condition.
According to reports, his heartbroken family said that they are making an end-of-life decision.
The 61-year-old actor has been taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Los Angeles on February 18 and has been in a coma since.
Tom reportedly suffered a stroke at his home in LA and was taken to intensive care. His manager Charles Lago shared updates about the actor’s health condition.
He told Fox News: “He is in the hospital. His family is aware of the situation and are hoping for the best. It is too early to know about (a) recovery situation as he is in critical condition under observation,” adding that it was a ‘wait and see’ situation.
But Tom’s family has been told that he will not recover from his decision.
In a statement on behalf of the family, Lago said via BBC News: “Today doctors informed his family that there is no further hope and have recommended end-of-life decision.”
The statement continued: “The family is now deciding end-of-life matters and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday. We are asking for privacy for his family during this difficult time, and they wish to thank everyone for the hundreds of messages of support and prayers that have been received.
“This has been a difficult time for them.”
The actor is best known for his role as Mike Horvath in the 1998 Saving Private Ryan, starring Tom Hanks.
He also appeared in Pearl Harbor, Twin Peaks, and Black Hawk Down.
