Tom Hanks was caught on camera confronting overzealous fans who almost knocked his wife over outside a New York City restaurant.

The incident took place in Midtown as the Castaway star and his wife, Rita Wilson, were leaving a restaurant where they had dinner after attending the screening of the Elvis Presley biopic in which the actor is playing the King of Rock & Roll’s manager.

As the pair were walking away from the building towards their car, a large crowd of fans formed around them with what appears to be zero respect for the actor’s and the actress’s personal space.

At one point, one of the fans got too close causing Rita to trip and nearly fall over.

Infuriated by the incident, Hanks charged toward the fans and screamed: “My wife? Back the f**k up! Knocking over my wife?!”

After his security stepped in, the 65-year-old was escorted to the vehicle that was waiting for him at the side of the road. “Sorry about that, Tom,” one of the fans could be heard apologizing as the actor was walking away.

The incident comes shortly after Tom Hanks sparked concerns about his health while attending the screening of his new movie, Elvis, in Brisbane, Australia.

As he appeared on stage, the legendary actor said: “There is no better place in the world to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast.”

What eagle-eyed viewers quickly pointed out, however, was that Hanks’ right hand appeared to be shaking uncontrollably while he was addressing the crowd.

Yale University graduate Dr. Stuart Fischer has since spoken to DailyMail.com and revealed the shaking could indicate an underlying degenerative disease.

“Parkinson’s would be uppermost in most physicians’ minds,” he told the publication.

“This trembling hand can be an early sign of the disease. One would think he would be on the path to a neurologist’s office now if not already.

“It could be weeks, months or years before it progresses. It could be like with the famous conductor James Levine, it did take many years for a leg tremor to evolve into a bodily manifestation.”
