More than 20 people have been killed after a military training jet from the Bangladesh army crashed into a school building.
Footage shared spoke about more than 170 people getting injured in the country’s capital city of Dhaka.
There was a huge fire and thick smoke after the aircraft slammed into a massive two-storey building.
The armed forces shared in a new statement through Facebook that the plane experienced a serious mechanical fault after taking off for a training exercise just after 1 pm local time on Monday. The pilot was among those killed, as shared by the air force.
More than 50 people were rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries that included serious burns. These would take a long time to heal, but families are mourning the loss of many innocent kids who were busy having lunch inside the school’s cafeteria, unaware of what was to happen soon.
Investigations are taking place to determine what was the cause of the plane crash as families demand answers from authorities after the tragedy.
Seventeen of the casualties were children who had just been let out, as confirmed by the country’s health ministry.
