TIME Magazine has just confirmed that the Architects of AI is this year’s Person of the Year.
This spotlights the people and firms behind the growing rise of artificial intelligence and the widespread impact it has on global society. The latest selection recognizes figures like Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and other leaders whose work in the world of AI technology has gone on to reshape industries, economies, culture, and politics throughout the year.
The designation goes on to reflect 2025 as a landmark year for adopting AI. Tools such as ChatGPT went on to reach hundreds of millions of users to breakthroughs in fields like medicine, defense, science, and climate research.
AI’s integration into common life has gone on to expand in a dramatic sense, but it’s also rolled out massive challenges at the same time. There are plenty of ethical concerns, fears of job displacements, and misinformation that’s on the rise. Similarly, we have socioeconomic inequality.
TIME’s editors did argue about how the growing influence of such AI architects serves as an impactful force in 2025. This latest choice comprises TIME’s long tradition of choosing those people or groups that it feels have most shaped the headlines, even if they’re not universally witnessed as a heroic attempt.
