President Trump has just questioned whether it would be doable to make the Canadian nation the 51st state of the US during a recent discussion with the newly appointed Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Since he was sworn into the leading position of the 47th President of the US, Trump not only rolled out tariffs on several countries around the globe but also shared with Canada that the solution for the nation was to avoid such tariffs, as it would become America’s 51st state.
Now, even with the 25 percent tariffs on the country coming into play since then, Canada continues to stay firm in its stance against becoming another state of the US.
This was shared by former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, who says Trump can dream on as it’s never happening.
Recently, Trump and newly appointed PM Mark Carney sat down at the White House for the first meeting since Carney took over from Trudeau. Despite these ongoing tensions, Trump and Carney mentioned how much they like one another and literally sang praises.
They echoed the same compliments that the POTUS flings had in Carney’s direction, but one top question remains.
Is Canada going up for sale or not? As per Carney, Canada is never going to be for sale, and he reminded Trump during their recent meeting.
He likened the nation to Buckingham Palace or the Oval Office. ‘As you know from real estate, there are certain locations that won’t go up for sale, and this is one of those. But Trump nodded and said, ‘Never say never! I have seen things that were not doable become something doable!’- he mentioned.
