The FBI and Georgia Police have launched a desperate hunt for a 20-month-old boy who went missing from his home on October 5.
Police said that it is their ‘highest priority’ to find Quinton Simon, who was living with his grandmother.
Documents reveal that they were family problems between Quinton’s mother and grandmother before the toddler’s disappearance.
Authorities have been searching for the one-year-old hoping that he’s still alive.
“We don’t have any information to believe he’s not,” said Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley during a press conference.
Court records obtained by WJCL reveal that the boy’s grandmother, Billie Jo Howell, previously tried to kick out the boy’s mother Leilani and her boyfriend Daniel Youngkin from their home.
She said that the two “have damaged my property and at this point no one is living in peace.”
It is not clear whether the incident had anything to do with the boy’s disappearance.
Billie, who has custody of Quinton, said of her daughter: “She hasn’t always done the right thing. Sometimes she does really great, sometimes she doesn’t. I don’t know what to think right now. I don’t know what to believe, because I don’t think anybody ever believes this is going to happen to them.”
The tearful grandmother added: “I want this baby home. He’s my baby. I want him home. He’s just a baby. Please don’t stop looking.”
Quinton’s grandfather also said: “We just want to know something. We are concerned with his wellbeing. He’s a happy kid. He always had a big smile on his face. We’re still hoping and praying.”
Police have already searched the child’s home, a nearby wood, drainage pipes, and a pong.
“We are not in need of volunteers, but want to keep you informed about our efforts to find the little boy,” Chatham County Police said in a statement.
“The FBI continues to provide assistance and support, as they have since day one.”
