Jimmy Kimmel’s fellow Late Night hosts teamed up to support the canceled comedian while throwing punches at Donald Trump and his administration for thinking it was okay to roll out censorship attacks.
Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Fallon were seen referencing the controversy surrounding Kimmel’s exit in their opening monologues as the comics refused to shy away from this topic.
Stewart returned for an unscheduled appearance on The Daily Show and started the episode on Thursday night by promising a fun, hilarious, and administration-compliant program before directing barbs at the US President.
He continued: “Our great administration has laid out very clear rules on free speech. He then added how some people have trouble accepting the words of others, but not me, though. I think it’s great!”
The Daily Show set was refashioned with decorative gold engravings in a parody of the gold accents Trump added to the fireplace, doorway arches, and other parts of the Oval Office.
He took on more of a stilted tone when he started to describe Trump’s visit to the UK, calling him ‘Our great father!’ Stewart, who only appears on Monday nights did decided to make an exception and choose to film an episode this week in the wake of Kimmel’s axing.
Fallon spoke about how handsome Trump looked on the three-day State visit in the UK, and then also hoped his good friend Kimmel would be back on air soon to entertain us all. At the moment, Kimmel’s $48 million contract hangs in the air.
