The teacher from Virginia who made headlines after getting shot by her own elementary school student is now breaking her silence for the first time.

25-year-old Abigail Zwerner made headlines when she was shot by her 6-year-old student who aimed straight at her with his weapon. The mother tried to justify the child’s behavior by mentioning how he was scared and thought she would confiscate the weapon and that’s why he did that for his own self-defense.

But if that was not dramatic enough, it was confirmed that the child was too young to be dubbed as a suspect and also would not be charged as he wouldn’t even be knowing the meaning behind the crime and charges attached to his name.

After months of controversies, the teacher named Zwerner says she had heard and seen enough. Therefore, she has now opted to break her silence on the matter because it’s high time that happened.

The teacher mentioned how each day is a challenge for her and some days she can’t even get out of bed. In the same way, she mentioned that the challenges she has faced both physically and mentally are really starting to take a toll on her. And her life has turned upside down due to that one mishap.

The teacher is hailed for mustering strength and going right in front of the child to confiscate his weapon, putting her life at risk to save other kids in the classroom.

For that, so many parents are grateful and while she tries to be positive on a daily basis, she adds that the struggle is so real.

Simple tasks like making a fist, filling up her water bottle and even getting dressed are so hard for her to do. And doctors revealed that they don’t know if she will ever be able to regain her strength back again and have blood movement in her hand like it was before the incident.
