Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau just shared that he’s ready to escalate the trade war with President Trump if the American leader moves forward with 25% taxes on goods from the northern nation at midnight.
Trudeau shared how America’s behavior on this front was shocking and unjustified and vowed to not let such matters go unanswered.
He also explained how tariffs started a new means of retaliation and according to him, it had to come into play right now.
Until the US plans to withdraw its tariffs, Canada says it won’t be withdrawing its own as it was fair and square.
Mexico and China have similarly slammed the US over the issue and hoped to roll out their own array of tariffs on American products to hurt the US economy.
‘We are active, and there are some ongoing discussions on this front,’ Trump explained to the press at the White House.
Trudeau also shared how there would be a 10% tax on Canadian energy sources and the President mentioned that there was no room left for either Mexico or Canada to make any kind of deal to avoid the high trade taxes.
