Suzanne Somers’ Grieving Husband Speaks Out And Recalls The Final Hours They Spent Together


Suzanne Somers’ grieving husband has spoken out and recalled the final moments he had spent with his wife before she passed away.

The 76-year-old Step by Step and Three’s Company actress died peacefully on October 15 just a day before her 77th birthday.

For the first time since her passing, her heartbroken husband of 46 years Alan Hamel spoke out and recalled the moments the two lovebirds shared on their last day together.

“We were in bed together and her breathing was erratic, and I had been talking to her for hours,” the 87-year-old told NBC News.

“There was no response except when I kissed her, she responded, and then around 5 o’clock in the morning, she was gone.”

Somers and Hamel spent 55 years together and were married for 46 years of those years. Despite all the history they had, the couple only grew stronger and stronger with each passing year.

Just a day before her death, Somers received a touching love poem from her husband. In the letter, Hamel expressed his feelings for the actress saying no words could get even close to how deeply in love he was with her.

“She was eating and was, you know, taking her medicine,” Hamel added in an interview with NBC News.point 376 |

“All of a sudden she wasn’t responding and she wasn’t eating and she wasn’t taking her meds.point 84 | As I know her so well I thought, ‘I wonder if I should call 911?’ And I knew that she wouldn’t want that and that she did not want to go to a hospital.point 208 |

He continued: “I talked to her for hours, every night, and I assumed she could hear me because her lips responded. Hopefully, she was understanding what I was saying.

“I’m just kind of shuffling along right now. Fortunately, we have a great family and they were all here.”
