Donald Trump has taken a bold decision to roll back the option of introducing X-gender passports to US citizens.
The move was first launched under the leadership of former US President Biden and his administration. This means the decision has left a lot of people who identify with that gender hanging.
Trump made it very clear after becoming president of the US that there were only two genders: male and female. He shared that there was no room for any in between and that did not make many people happy.
He even went as far as to sign executive orders requiring federal agencies to give the option for male and female as part of a long list of actions designed to reverse policies enabled by the predecessor.
This would align with the issuance of American passports that would now reflect a certain person’s biological gender as defined in the Executive Order.
As per the department spokesperson, they no longer issue American passports with X markers. Therefore, they will suspend all the processing of applications under this domain that seek another gender marker than that seen by the terms outlined in the executive order.
