Assaults are on the rise in subway stations this year, a new report has confirmed, raising the threat situation for stabbling incidents to a new high.
Critics fear that the matter is getting worse with each passing day. The overcrowding and congestion prices is really making matters worse, the report adds.
Felony assaults are up by 9% in 2025 so far and they went from 168 to 183 over the same time last year, as per new data shared by the New York Police Department.
But more bad news has to do with how it’s staying high for a while and has no plans of coming back down.
Of the felony cases, 54 or nearly 30% were against the state’s cops as per the NYPD. The fact the the state governor is showing support for the controversial $9 congestion tax in Manhattan has many wondering what could possibly be next.
People need to either cough up thousands of dollars a year or risk their safety. Those fears turned to a massive reality Friday morning when a 38 year old man was stabbed to death after he got into a massive brawl with the rider. The alarming situation has citizens worried and wondering what could be next and what authorities are doing to curb some issues.
