Rihanna will not be directly paid for her performance at this year’s Super Bowl half-time show.
On Sunday, the pop star took to the State Farm Stadium in Arizona to put on a “powerful” and “strong” performance that consisted of several hit songs.
Performing during the half-time show were also other renowned musicians including the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, and Shakira.
Though many people believe that singers are paid a fortune for their Super Bowl acts in front of millions of people, it is in fact true that NFL doesn’t issue checks to half-time performers.
While the performers are paid nothing directly, the exposure they get at half-time shows typically helps them increase sales on a massive scale.
Such examples include Lady Gaga whose single sales went up by an astounding 1,000% following her 2017 Super Bowl appearance.
As for JLo, it has been confirmed she received at least 2.3 million new followers on social media after her 2020 act alongside Shakira.
Another great example of what exposure can do for the artist is Dr. Dre whose joint performance with Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige resulted in his album sales going up by 183% following the 2022 half-time show act.
The explanation comes after Rihanna revealed she was pregnant as she proudly rubbed her growing baby bump in front of stunned fans at the stadium.
The singer is currently expecting her second child with rapper A$AP Rocky.
She previously revealed that she almost chose not to perform at the Super Bowl because she was just months after giving birth to her first child when it was time to make the decision.
“I was like, ‘You sure? I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,’” she said.
“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything.
“And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was … there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for my son to see that.”
