California Governor Gavin Newsom explained on Sunday that he would be suing to keep President Trump from sending California National Guard troops to Portland.
‘We are suing Donald Trump. His deployment of the California National Guard to Oregon is not about crime, but it’s about power. He’s using our military as political pawns to build up his own ego’- the governor shared through a post on X.
‘It’s so appalling and it’s un-American and it needs to stop’- he continued.
The move comes just one day after the federal judge blocked President Trump’s attempt to deploy Oregon National Guard troops in Portland.
In reply to the federal court order that blocked his attempt to federalize the Oregon National Guard, President Trump is rolling out 300 California National Guard which is a clear abuse of law and power, he continued.
Referring to the matter as a dangerous situation, he added that ignoring court orders and treating judges, even those appointed by himself, is against the law.
