President Donald Trump has ordered Israel to immediately stop bombing Gaza and welcomed Hamas’ partial acceptance of his ultimatum to end the nearly two-year-long war.
Hamas agreed to release all hostages in return for Palestinian prisoners held in jails in Israel, as well as the surrender of governing power of the Gaza Strip, after a nearly two-year-long war, as per Trump’s plan.
In a shocking statement that was rolled out during the evening hours of Friday, the Palestinian militant group requested for further negotiations on other parts of this plan and didn’t say whether it would be laying down its arms, which happens to be a key part of the proposal by Trump on Monday.
Despite the qualified reply by Hamas, Trump mentioned in a post on Truth Social: Based on the statement just rolled out by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace.
‘Israel must stop bombing Gaza with immediate effect’- Trump shared in a breakthrough post through his Truth Social account.
He then went on to share how the goal is to get out the hostages as safely and quickly as possible, and with the ongoing war taking place right now, that would not be possible, he continued. The news has been received with positivity but many are skepitical when and if this actually ends up working out, as others hailed Trump as a true peace maker.
