Terrifying reports are speaking about the death of two people and more than 10 people being injured after a massive explosion took center stage at a steel facility in the US.
The incident arose yesterday, after which several workers were said to be buried under the rubble, prompting urgent rescue efforts.
The exact location was confirmed as the US Steel Clairton Coke Works plant in Pennsylvania. This was right after locals heard a huge boom sound in the Pittsburgh area facility.
At least nine people were rushed to nearby hospitals to get immediate medical attention as they were being treated for different types of unspecified injuries.
Officials previously mentioned to WTAE how there was a rescue mission underway for those trapped under the rubble in this plant.
The Allegheny County Emergency Services explained how the fire at this plant began nearly 10:51 am EST and how five people were rushed to the hospital. Moreover, the agency failed to provide any more details on those transported and would only say it was an active scene and mass casualty event. At the time, the number and extent of the injuries were unclear, but several medical helicopters were seen rushing towards the plant.
