President Trump urged Americans in states such as Alaska, Hawaii, and those located alongside the Pacific Coast to stay strong and stay safe in advance of a possible tsunami striking the shores.
Trump made the post on Truth Social as tsunami sirens continued to ring along the shorelines of Hawaii after one of the most powerful earthquakes took place in modern times.
Trump shared the message through his account on Truth Social. He said that due to the massive earthquake that took place in the Pacific Ocean, an immediate warning is in place for those in Hawaii.
He’s also urged citizens to visit tsunami.gov for the latest information. The message came just moments after news broke out from Russia about the massive earthquake and which triggered serious tsunami alerts across different continents.
Waves were scheduled to hit Hawaii by 7:15 pm local time and during the early hours of Wednesday morning in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California.
The incident measured 8.0 but was soon upgraded to 8.8 by the American Geological Survey. This was right after 8:25 am local time off the eastern coast of Russia.
