Sinclair Broadcast Group shared how it won’t air Jimmy Kimmel Live on its ABC affiliate stations, despite Disney’s decision to bring back the late-night talk show starting Tuesday.
‘Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair would be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing them with news programming’- the statement by Sinclair read. The company houses America’s largest number of network affiliate stations, as was posted on X.
‘Discussions with ABC are currently ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return,’ – group mentioned.
Kimmel, whose show was pulled following his controversial comments about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, negotiated his return with Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger and his second-in-command Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden, sources confirmed.
This mega deal that’s worth a staggering $15 million every year will address his comments during the monologue on his return broadcast this Tuesday. But he will stop short of apologizing for his controversial comments that the alleged killer was part of the MAGA gang, as per sources.
Disney shared a statement on this matter, where it mentioned how it suspended Kimmel last Wednesday to prevent further inflaming of the tense situation at a very emotional moment for America. They called the majority of his remarks ‘ill-timed and thus very insensitive’.
Sinclair had previously called on this talk show host to issue a direct apology to the entire Kirk family and make donations to Turning Point USA, which is a conservative nonprofit co-founded by Kirk.
