BREAKING: ‘Starsky & Hutch’ Star David Soul Has Passed Away


‘Starsky & Hutch’ star David Soul has passed away at the age of 80 after a “valiant” battle for life.

The iconic American-British actor and singer, who was best known for appearing on four seasons of the 1970s action TV series and his hit song Don’t Give Up On Us, passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

The sad news was confirmed by David’s fifth wife Helen Snell whom he tied the knot with in 2010.

“David Soul – beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother – died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family,” the family’s statement read.

“He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.”

On TV, Soul was arguably best known for portraying Detective Ken ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson along with co-star Paul Michael Glaser who played Detective Dave Starsky.

After kicking off his career in music in the 1960s and appearing on The Merv Griffin show, David secured a number of roles in the likes of Flipper, Star Trek, Here Come The Brides, Johnny Got His Gun, and Perry Mason before his leading role on Starsky & Hutch that lasted from 1974 to 1979.

At the peak of his career, the actor and singer also appeared in TV series like Salem’s Lot and Casablanca while topping the music charts with his hit songs Don’t Give Up On Us, Silver Lady, Let’s Have A Quiet Night In, and Going In With My Eyes Open.

Soul is survived by wife Helen Snell and his six children including five sons and one daughter.
