Sam Neill who made a huge name for himself says he is not afraid of dying after battling stage three blood cancer.
The leading actor from Jurassic Park spoke to Australian Story and mentioned how his chemotherapy stopped working efficiently and that left him fighting for life. Meanwhile, a new experimental drug is stated to be working and trying to combat his non-Hodgkin blood cancer, angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
Despite such wonderful news, the 76-year-old is believed to be in a stage of remission for the past year but he is very positive, despite knowing that it will not last forever.
The star mentioned how doctors told him boldly that a day is going to come when the drugs will stop working efficiently and he is said to be prepared for that too.
“I am in no way, shape, or form afraid of dying. This does not worry me and it has never worried me before either. But I would certainly be very annoyed”- he mentioned.
The leading Hollywood actor added how the reason for his annoyance had to do with the fact that there are still plenty of things that he wishes to take on and do. It was all very irritating for him and then dealing with death and how it can happen at any time is itself very annoying for him.
Neill ended up sharing images from this time where he underwent therapy and that was where the actor was hard to recognize without that classic beard and salt-and-pepper hair.
He also spoke about how times arose in the past year when he used to take a good look at himself in the mirror and it was just not a great sight. And no matter what, he was quickly stripped away from any kind of dignity, he mentioned.
Neill added how he found out about his cancer diagnosis in the past year when he returned from a trip to New Zealand. This was after a series of lockdowns were lifted, allowing him to visit his family back home, which he had not seen since the past two years.
