Shocking reports are speaking about temperatures in Mason, Ohio reaching a new high of 32 degrees centigrade and that resulting in drastic conditions for tennis stars.
During a match played yesterday between Rinderknech and Auger-Aliassime, the duo had a competitive play that pinched into a tiebreak.
Augar-Aliassime was gearing up to serve at 2-2 when, in the second set, Rinderknech fell down to the ground.
The Frenchman had been trudging towards the court’s back. He grabbed a towel from the ballboy and wiped his face before sinking down to the ground. It was clear that the heat had gotten to him, and he was in no shape or form to continue.
The 30 year old lay on his back, took in deep breaths, and that’s when the umpire jogged on over to check whether or not he was doing alright.
After getting a check by the supervisor and a member of the tournament, he was able to rise towads his knees. The world No70 was beyond stunned at Wimbledon and then gingerly got up towards his feet. While he certainly did put up a strong fighting spirit, it didn’t last too long. He failed to continue and retired with a score of 7-6 4-2.
