The 35-year-old mother was then engulfed in flames, the report added, sharing how the burning gasoline cans were extinguished when firefighters arrived. Officials did not mention how or whether she deliberately began this fatal blaze. But as per the Uvalde Police Department, it doesn’t suspect that anyone else might be involved in this other than herself, and that there were no signs of any foul play.

Santos-Aviles was found alive and still ablaze by her own mother at about 9:30 pm that same night and was then helicoptered to a nearby hospital.

Despite the report of apparent self-immolation, her family remained adamant that whatever happened was accidental. ‘Her last words were, ‘I don’t want to die’- a member of her family shared with media outlet KSAT. Santos-Aviles was alone when that blaze began, home surveillance footage attained by investigators revealed.
